Hidesign Diary 2016 – It Starts with a Seed

This is the third diary that I worked on with the Hidesign team, mainly Catherinah Rachel who designed it and Dipen Desai for artistic inputs. This one was less about the brand and more about finding an imaginative way to talk about nature. It was a challenge finding the right tone, there were many revisions, but it was all worth it in the end.

The Hidesign Diary for 2016 is intended to connect us to the wealth that forests and wildlife bring to our lives everyday. Each month introduces an animal or plant as a friend, reminding us of the story book characters we adored as children.

Some of my favourites are –

The suave Mr. Fox can steal you of your poultry while he charms you with his laughing smile

Underneath the silver surface, is a magical world of colourful fish who speak in the secret language of bubbles, slippery weeds that sway to the music of the birds circling high above, while the frogs wow the dragonflies with stories of their underwater adventures.

The Flamingoes from far off Europe and Siberia keep you captivated with their dance-like movements, reminiscent of the 1920s ragtime broadway musicals. You could catch a performance at one of Mumbai’s creeks this month.
